Using ribbon across or down a page is a
common and effective way to embellish a scrapbook layout. Why
not use border stickers in the same way! This layout shows one
way to do just that. |
|
This layout was created using three shades of
brown cardstock (I am going to call mine tan, mocha and
chocolate), black cardstock, white cardstock, Creative
Imaginations Wrinkled Rust paper, brown ribbon, alphabet
stickers and stamps, two shades of brown brads, brown pen, SRM It's a Cat's
Life Borders stickers and SRM Paw Prints stickers. |
|
Use your mocha (the middle
shade of brown) cardstock for your background. Cut a strip of
tan (light brown) cardstock measuring approximately 9.5cm wide
and adhere down the right side of your page. Cut a strip of
chocolate (dark brown) cardstock approximately 6cm tall and
adhere across the bottom of your page. You now have your
foundation. |
|
Cut two circles from Creative Imaginations
Wrinkled Rust paper. The diameter of each should be
approximately 12cm. Cut straight edges along two side. Position
your circles in the top left and bottom right corners of the
remaining area of your mocha cardstock, as shown in the layout
above. |
|
Mat your photo with white cardstock. Mat
again with black cardstock, leaving approximately 3cm below your
photo. Adhere a piece of brown ribbon across the black photo
mat, under your photo. Centre your photo in the mocha cardstock
area of your page and adhere. Embellish your photo with a photo
corner cut from tan cardstock in the top left-hand corner and
two SRM
Paw Prints stickers on top of your ribbon on the
right. |
|
Use alphabet stickers to create your title
both above and below your photo. Embellish your title with SRM Paw Prints
stickers. |
|
Adhere a thin black 'Here Kitty Kitty' border
sticker along the bottom of your page on top of the join between
the mocha and chocolate cardstock. Position a cat border sticker
below it and another 'Here Kitty Kitty' border sticker below
that. If you wish, you can distress the border stickers with
sand paper for a more aged look. |
|
Your side column can be used for addition
photos or journaling. I have chosen to incorporate various words
and phrases relating to the photo. For an interesting effect, I
have use tags and rectangles made from Creative Imaginations
Wrinkled Rust paper, alphabet stickers, alphabet stamps, ribbon,
pen work, brown brads and SRM Paw Prints
stickers. To
create a similar effect yourself, first decide on what words and
phrases you wish to include. Then play around with different
fonts and font sizes, as well as the positioning of each phrase.
Try to achieve balance in your arrangement. For example, if
there is a large tag on the right towards the top, try to also
place on the left towards the bottom. Play around with it and
see what you come up with! |
