Tags continue to be a popular embellishment
both in scrapbooking and card making. They range in style from
quick and simple to elegant and sophisticated. Suzy's Zoo small stickers
are perfect in size and cover a wide
range of themes so are perfect for demonstrating how
different styles and techniques can be used to create your own tag art. |
|
|
Stylish tags can be created
in just minutes with the right supplies and a
little inspiration. Both these tags employ the
simple technique adhering a matted sticker to a
tag. |
|
To create the tag on the left, Suzy's Zoo Suzy With Bunny
stickers were matted on yellow plaid paper and centered on
a purple tag. A strip of white swirl vellum
was angled across the bottom and purple ribbon placed on
top. A white eyelet was used in the hole and a
white fuzz fibre pushed through. |

|
|
|
A similar idea was employed on the tag to the
right (the butterfly tag). A stickers from Suzy's Zoo Butterflies
stickers was matted on purple paper. Instead of using
the standard rectangular frame, a circle was used. This theme
was then enhanced with the purple paper in the bottom right hand
corner and the arrangement of the brads. Finally, purple fibre
was threaded through the top. |

|
Experimenting with different
shapes can give a real lift to your tags. As you
can see, this tag uses a heart-shaped matt for
the teddy bear stickers. Don't be afraid to let
elements like this heart, extend beyond the
boundaries of your tag. |
|
This tag uses Suzy's Zoo
Best Friend Bears stickers. The bears were
matted on a brown heart which was then adhered
to a tan tag. The string of hearts stickers were
placed around the hole. The second string of
hearts was cut to give the required lengths
before positioning them. |

|
Another way to add interest
to your tags is with the use of fibres. Wrapping
fibres around the tag gives texture and depth.
Both the teddy bear tag above and this panda tag
use fibre in this manner. |
|
This tag was made using Suzy's
Zoo Birthday Panda stickers. Although it is
comprised of many elements, it is really quite
simple. It uses a triple matt tag with torn
edges along the bottom. The stickers were placed
on the top layer and three orange brads added to
the fringe of the middle layer. Yellow flash
fibre was then wrapped the tag and another piece
threaded through the hole. |

Fibre is not the only technique
employed in dressing up these tags. The tag on the left
uses Suzy's Zoo Bear With Flowers stickers. The
background is embossed cardstock. Two squares of brown
cardstock were cut and a silver ink pad used to ink
around the edges before adhering them to the tag. The
stickers were then strategically placed. A red brad was
added to the bottom square and red fibre threaded
through a buckle before being wrapped around the card. |
|
|
|
The tag above on the right uses Suzy's Zoo
Suzy School stickers. A piece of pale yellow cardstock was
crumpled and adhered to the background tag. A small strip of
paper was then added across the bottom and decorated with a brad
and sticker. This paper was also used to frame the hole at the
top. The remaining stickers were placed on cardstock and cut
out. This was done to give dimension. Suzy was then added to the
tag and fibre wrapped around. This fibre was also used to thread
through the hole at the top. Finally, a mini pop dot was used to
add the apple, giving the tag a more three-dimensional feel. |
|
|
This cute tag was made using Suzy's
Zoo Snowman stickers. The tag was cut from patterned
snow paper and a piece of torn white mulberry paper was
placed across the bottom to give the impression of snow.
The snowman and snowflake stickers were then added. A
white eyelet was placed in the hole and white flash
fibre threaded through. Finally, Ting A Ling Sparkles
from Carolees Creations (a self-adhesive glitter) was
used to jazz it up and make it sparkle. |
|
|
So many different ideas and techniques can be
incorporated into a tag. And what's really great is they don't
take long to make. So, sit down and have some fun with them and
see what you can come up with!
