Mulberry Paper can make a beautiful and
elegant addition to your scrapbooking pages. It's soft textured
appearance makes it an appropriate selection for a wide variety
of themes including weddings, babies, spring and much more.
Tearing the edges further soften the effect and can turn a good
page into a fantastic page. |

The materials used in this layout are It
Takes Two Purple Fibre paper, purple cardstock, white mulberry
paper, silver alphabet tiles and Suzy's
Zoo Wedding Bears stickers. |
|
Sometimes you find an embellishment you just
have to have, even if you don't know what to do with it. This is
what happened with this page. I started with the Suzy's
Zoo Wedding Bears stickers and then chose a photo from
our wedding to match. The stickers use soft colours so I turned
to mulberry paper and soft purples to continue this theme
throughout my layout. |
|
To recreate this layout, begin by matting
your photo on light purple cardstock. Next, matt your photo on
white mulberry paper. Make sure there is excess paper all the
way around as you are going to tear the edges so create a soft
feel to your page. |
|
Tearing the edges of mulberry papers is quite
easy, once you know the secret. Dab the area where you want to
tear with a few drops of water. As the water is absorbed, the
paper becomes soft. When this happens gently pull the paper
apart. This will create a neat tear in the wet area. Be careful
though - only wet the areas you want to tear. |
|
While your photo mat dries (it doesn't take
long), move on to your border. Again, this is quite easy. Cut a
strip about 2cm wide of purple cardstock. Make sure it is long
enough to stretch all the way down your page. Matt it on your
mulberry paper. Use your mulberry paper tearing technique again
to create white edges for your border. |
|
Now it is time to create your name plaque.
Cut an oval from your purple cardstock and mat it on your
mulberry paper. Again, you want to tear the edges of your
mulberry paper. It is a little more complicated this time as the
shape is rounded. However, if you work slowly and only wet a
little bit at a time, you should have no trouble tearing the
edge. Use the edge of your cardstock as a guide, but be careful
not to get it wet. |
|
Now you have all your elements, you are ready
to put your page together. Begin by adhering your border. Keep
in mind the placement of your wedding bears sticker when
positioning it. When your border is in place, stick the wedding
bear on top. |
|
Next, adhere your photo towards the top of your
page and in the middle and centre your name plaque below it. Use
your 'Mr and Mrs' sticker to line the top of your plaque and
your silver letters to write your surname within the plaque. To
finish it off, place your 'I Do' stickers in the bottom right
corner of the page.

|
Mulberry paper is a versatile medium that can be
used to enhance your scrapbooking and cardmaking projects. It's
so easy to work with that a scrapper of any level can use it
effectively, so why not give it a go!
