There’s one thing I really love about winter – it’s a great time to catch up on some card making time. And that’s exactly what I did over this past long weekend. So today I thought I would share one of my latest creations with you. I used one of our popular family stickers as the centrepiece.

Materials Used: Blue cardstock (three different shades), scraps of blue patterned paper, Chatterbox striped paper, circle stamps, blue ink and Sandylion Grandmas & Grandpas stickers.
To create this card, I used sketch #2 from my collection of 50 Card Making Sketches. For those of you with a copy already, please check page 21. If you haven’t got your copy yet, please visit:

The card sketch called for a square background. I could have just used a single square piece, but I decided to have a bit more fun.
To Create This Background:
1. Cut out 16 squares from scraps of blue patterned paper. Each square should be 1 inch by 1 inch.
2. Arrange your squares to form a 5 inch by 5 inch square frame.
3. Using stamps of your choice (I have used circles) and blue ink, randomly stamp images on your squares.
4. When dry, ink the edges of each 1 inch square with blue ink.
5. Finally, arrange your squares to form a 5 inch by 5 inch square frame in the centre of your card and glue down.
Now that you have a unique background, you can create the centrepiece of your card.
To Create Your Centrepiece:
1. Cut a 3 inch by 3 inch square from light blue cardstock. Mat with dark blue cardstock and glue in the centre of your card.
2. Cut a strip of striped paper approximately 2.5cm wide and 18.5cm tall. Use some decorative edged scissors to create a pattern down the right side. I have used a heartbeat pattern, but you can use whatever you like.
3. Ink the edges of your strip with blue ink and when dry, glue down the left side of your blue square, as shown above.
4. Embellish the rest of your card. I have used a Grandpa and grandson sticker from Sandylion Grandmas & Grandpas stickers.
This is just one idea for using sketch #2. I’d love to know what you create!
