I love to layer patterned paper on my
layouts. It is a fabulous way of adding richness and depth to a
page without adding unnecessary weight and without costing too
much. This layout shows one way to combine several different
papers and a handful of small embellishments without
overwhelming your page.

This layout was created using Basic Grey Rum
Raison paper from Basic
Grey Urban Damask Paper Pack, Chatterbox
Bunkhouse Ranch Flowers Paper, Scenic
Route Newport Chestnut Dots Paper, Chatterbox
Olive Parlor Argyle Paper, Chatterbox
Poolhouse Stripe Paper (the underside), Chatterbox
Powder Lollipop Stripe Paper (the underside), Fancy
Pants Wildheart Blossom Paper (the underside), blue
cardstock, small circle punch, wave pattern scissors, brown ink,
three small brads (1 white, 2 red), three medium brads (1 blue,
1 green, 1 red), black alphabet stickers, small alphabet
stickers (I have used blue and green) and Basic
Grey Urban Couture Tag cut-outs. |
|
Use Basic Grey Rum
Raison paper for your background. Lightly ink the edges with
brown ink. |
|
Cut
a piece of Chatterbox
Bunkhouse Ranch Flowers Paper measuring approximately
21.5cm by 23.5cm. Ink the edges with brown ink. When dry, adhere
to your background approximately 2.3cm from the top and left
edges. |
|
Cut
a piece of Scenic
Route Newport Chestnut Dots Paper measuring
approximately 21cm by 16.5cm. Ink the edges with brown ink. When
dry, adhere to your background approximately 5.5cm from the top
edge and 1.5cm from the right edge. |
|
Cut
a piece of Chatterbox
Olive Parlor Argyle Paper measuring approximately 11.5cm
by 18cm. Ink the edges with brown ink. When dry, adhere to your
background approximately 5cm from the left edge and 1.3cm from
the bottom edge. |
|
Cut
a piece of the underside of Chatterbox
Poolhouse Stripe Paper measuring approximately 20cm by
12cm. Ink the edges with brown ink. When dry, adhere to your
background approximately 6.8cm from the left edge and 6.3cm from
the bottom edge. Position a 4x6 photo within this piece, towards
the left edge and adhere. |
|
Select the green floral rag and the round red
tag from the Basic
Grey Urban Couture Tag cut-outs. Ink the edges with
brown ink. Position your smaller photo at an angle so
that it just overlaps the top right corner of your larger photo.
Do not adhere yet. Tuck the green floral tag in behind the left
side of the photo and adhere. Now adhere your photo in place.
Adhere the round red tag over the bottom left corner of the
photo, as shown in the layout above. |
|
Select the round green tag from Basic
Grey Urban Couture Tag cut-outs. Ink the edges with
brown ink. Position over the bottom right corner of your
smaller photo, as shown in the layout above, and adhere. Cut out
one large red flower, one large blue flower and one medium blue
flower from Chatterbox
Bunkhouse Ranch Flowers Paper. Adhere to the
right of your larger photo as shown in the layout above. |
|
Cut a strip of the underside of Chatterbox
Powder Lollipop Stripe Paper approximately 3.5cm
tall. Use patterned scissors to create a wavy bottom edge. Ink
the edges with brown ink. When dry, adhere to your page
approximately 2.3cm from the bottom edge. |
|
Cut a strip of the underside of Fancy
Pants Wildheart Blossom Paper approximately 1.2cm
tall. Ink the edges with brown ink. Adhere towards the top of
the Lollipop Stripe piece. |
|
Select the round blue tag from Basic
Grey Urban Couture Tag cut-outs. Ink the edges with
brown ink. Place the first letter of your title on the tag.
Adhere on your page towards the bottom right corner of your
large photo, as shown on the layout above. Use black alphabet
stickers positioned along your Fancy
Pants Wildheart Blossom stripe to complete your title. |
|
Use small alphabet stickers (I have used
small green squares) to add journaling or a second title in the
bottom right corner of your page. |
|
Using a small circle punch, punch out a
collection of small circles from blue cardstock. Arrange in a
circle in the bottom left corner of your page, as shown in the
layout above. |
|
Use small blue alphabet stickers to spell out
a word in a semi-circle above your small photo, as shown in the
layout above. If you do not wish to add a word or do not have
small blue alphabet sticker, punch out some more small circles
from the blue cardstock. |
|
Finally,
add the medium brads to the centre of the circles on your tags
and the small brads to the centre of your flowers. |
