Chris shows us how to think outside the box
and use those Christmas papers for a not so Christmasy layout.
She also demonstrates the effectiveness of a simple layering
technique - something that can be adapted to any page.
This layout was created using Basic Grey Fresh Snow,
Wonderland, Holly, and Polar Blue papers from the Blitzen
Collection, Mom Junkitz Twill Snapz, Creative Imaginations Art
Warehouse I.D. Plate, red ribbon, gros grain, red and cream
ribbon, brads, black Zig writer, Xyron 150 and Bo Bunny
Brothers stickers.
Use the Basic Grey
Polar Blue for the background (BG). Cut a 21cm x 23cm square
from Basic Grey Wonderland and adhere to the layout (LO) as
shown. Mat photos with Basic Grey Holly and Basic Grey Fresh
Snow placing mats and photos on angles as desired. Overlap the
second set of photo mats slightly over first, as shown in the
LO. Attach a brad in the top right corner.
Run two lengths of red
ribbon and one length of gros grain through the Xyron 150. Cut
one length of the red ribbon as desired and thread through the
Junkitz Twill Snapz. Adhere to the top of LO. Place a small
piece of double sided tape on the Junkitz Twill Snapz so it sits
securely to page. Adhere the gros grain underneath and then the
second length of red ribbon along the bottom of LO.
Mat the 'Oh Brother' sticker from your sheet of Bo Bunny
Brotherscardstock stickers with Basic Grey Fresh Snow and
adhere on an angle to the top right of LO. Mat the 'B Monogram'
sticker with Basic Grey Fresh Snow, attach a brad in each corner
of the ricrac and adhere to the LO, overlapping the photos
slightly. Mat the three smaller quote stickers with the Basic
Grey Fresh Snow allowing for an extra 1cm at one end to attach a
small length of the red and cream ribbon with a brad.
Cut a small enough piece
from the Basic Grey Wonderland to fit inside the I.D. Plate.
Journal as desired (I have journalled the date the photos were
taken). Thread a small piece of gros grain through each end and
adhere with double sided tape to the bottom right of LO.
Make you own photo corner from the leftovers of
the Basic Grey Wonderland paper and adhere to the top left
corner of the first photo. Attach a brad in the corner.Cut a small journal block from the Basic Grey Fresh Snow paper so
it fits nice and snug just behind the first photo mats. Journal
as desired.
Although ultimately the Basic Grey Blitzen
Collection is a Christmas range, I love the versatility of the
colours and the designs. It allows the papers freedom to be used
for many other layouts other then that of Christmas. This
particular range worked so well with the colours and the
distressed look of the Bo Bunny
Brothers stickers that I simply couldn�t resist using them for
this particular layout.
