Baby pages create a perfect opportunity to
play with soft pastel colours and simplistic designs which focus
attention on your photos. The following layout uses a gorgeous
colour combination of soft green, yellow and orange as well as a
subtle chalking technique which you can adapt to any page.
|
|
This layout was created using three shades of Bazzil cardstock
(Green, Light Yellow and Pale Orange), White cardstock, Purple
Chalk, an Alphabet Template, Green Lace and Suzy's Zoo Baby
Love stickers.
|
|
Layering plays a key role in the creation
of this page, so it is easiest to start with the background and
build from there. Use your darkest colour (in this case, green)
for your background. This grounds your page and helps everything
to pull together. |
|
Next, cut a piece of yellow Bazzil
cardstock. It should be about 28cm by 19cm. Position it
horizontally on your background as shown above, but do not stick
down yet.
|
|
Then, cut a piece of orange Bazzil
cardstock approximately 19.5cm by 25.5cm. Position it vertically
on your page, but again, do not stick down. |
|
It is now time to use your chalk. Take
note of the areas of yellow cardstock that will be covered by
the orange cardstock. There is no need to chalk in these areas.
You are now going to chalk words on your yellow cardstock.
|
|
To do this, first choose
your word. I have chosen the word 'Cherish' but you can choose
whatever word/s suits your page. Position your alphabet template
on top of your yellow cardstock so that the first letter of your
word is above where your orange cardstock will be. Using a
cotton bud or dauber, fill in the letter with chalk. Move your
template to position the second letter of your word next to the
first letter and chalk. Repeat until you have finished your
word.
|
|
Repeat this process to position portions of
your word around the remaining yellow cardstock. Keep in mind
that much of it will be covered by orange cardstock, so you only
need to worry about the edges.
|
|
The rest of the layout is easy! Adhere your
yellow cardstock to your background and then your orange
cardstock on top (as per picture). Mat your photo on white
cardstock and centre on your orange cardstock. If you wish, you
can also place a strip of yellow cardstock in the bottom right
of your page. This just helps to add balance and makes a perfect
spot for a title, date or some journaling. |
|
Finally, adhere a piece of green lace down
the left-hand side of your page and position your Suzy's Zoo Baby
Love stickers. |
|
PLEASE NOTE: You do not need to
set your chalk. However, please leave 24 hours before placing
your page inside a page protector. This will allow it to set
itself and will stop it smudging. |
