Stickers are great for scrapbooking, but they
can also be used to make beautiful cards for your loved ones. In
this article, we look at two beautiful cards made with PSX
stickers which you can personalise for any occasion. They are
great for friends, mothers, grandmothers or daughters! |
|
This first card was made using PSX Pink
Hydrangeas stickers, pink Bazzil cardstock, pink patterned
paper, pink vellum and cream cardstock. |
|
To begin with, cut your card from your Bazzil
cardstock. The textured nature of this cardstock provides an
excellent background for your card. The front of my card
measures approximately 12cm by 17cm. |
|
Next, cut a piece of your patterned paper. It
should be just over 10cm wide and about 15-16cm tall. This piece
is to be angled across your card. The long sides are to keep
their straight edge, but the shorter edges are going to be torn.
Before tearing, play around with the placement of your paper on
the card. You want to make sure that you tear your edges so they
are approximately parallel to the bottom edge of your card (even
though the piece of paper is angled). When you are happy with
your placement, tear the edges and then adhere the paper to you
card. This is also a good time to adhere your main sticker - the
pink hydrangeas. |
|
Now take your vellum. You can either cut a
small rectangle to angle in the bottom left-hand corner or make
it into a little envelope by folding the sides under. In the
end, it should measure about 5cm by 3cm and be placed in the
bottom left-hand corner so that it slightly overlaps your
patterned paper. |
|
Finally, we are going to use the two
butterfly stickers and the quote. Place these three stickers on
your cream cardstock. Cut them out around the edge of the
sticker. This will give the stickers are cream border (the
background to the stickers is clear). They are now ready to be
adhered to your card. |
|
There is a trick to adhering your
butterflies. Butterflies basically comprise of the body and the
wings. What you want to do is gently fold along the two lines
where the wing meets the body. When gluing to the card, apply
your adhesive ONLY under the body of the butterfly. When it is
dry, fold up the wings slightly to give your butterflies a more
three dimensional feel. |
|
This card is slightly more difficult to make
than the one above, although it can still be achieved by even
the novice scrapper / card maker. It was made with PSX Blue
Hydrangeas stickers, purple Bazzil cardstock, cream
cardstock and Yellow Flash fibre. |
|
As with the last design, begin by cutting
your card from your Bazzil cardstock. Again, the front of my
card measures approximately 12cm by 17cm.
|
|
The next step is to make a small tag from
your cream cardstock. It can be any shape you like, but try not
to make it too big. Mine measures approximately 7.5cm by 4cm.
Write whatever message you would like on the tag, but angle it
so that when you angle your tag on the card, the text will be
straight. Finally, thread a small piece of fibre through the top
hole. |
|
Now take your Hydrangeas sticker. You will
notice that there are two separate groups of flowers on the
single sticker. What you want to do is cut the sticker basically
in half. Make sure the top group of flowers keeps its stem, two
leaves on its right and a small leaf on its left. As a result,
the bottom group of flowers will have four leaves around the top
left and another at the bottom right. |
|
Place the top sticker at the top of your
card. Make sure you angle it slightly. Next, place your tag on
top so that it covers some of the stem. I suggest not placing an
adhesive under the fibre end of the tag as you may wish to tuck
the next sticker underneath it. When you are happy with your
placemat, add the bottom hydrangeas sticker. Angle it in the
opposite direction to the first sticker. |
|
Now all you have to do is add the bees. The
bee in the bottom left was adhere directly onto the card. I then
took the two identical bee stickers, placed them onto the cream
cardstock and cut them out. I place one in the top corner of the
tag. For the other one, I followed the same technique as with
the butterflies on the first card. I gently folded along the
wing line. I then placed glue behind the body of the bee only
and placed it on top of the other bee sticker. When the glue was
dry, I folded the wings up to give that three dimensional feel. |
|
Both these cards are a great way to show
someone how you feel or with them a wonderful day on a special
occasion. They both are relatively simple to put together and
yet have a stunning effect. And what's even better is that they
are made with archival materials, so your friend or family
member will be able to treasure them for many years to came (and
maybe even use them in their scrapbooks!). |
